ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

Assistant Course Director (UCI): University of California, Irvine, Writing Program (1999-Spring 2003). Developed curricula; led staff meetings; mentored instructors; observed classes; conducted post-class observation conferences; assessed staff paper sets; edited staff web site; edited A Student Guide to Writing at UCI.

Committee Service (UCI): Book Committee (1999-2000); Hiring Committee (1999-2002); Student Guide to Writing Committee (2000-2003).

 

UNIVERSITY SERVICE and MENTORING

Faculty Fellow (Faculty/Staff Mentor) (USC—2004-2005). Bi-weekly dinners with an undergraduate resident advisor and her dorm mates; field trips to important Los Angeles spaces, such as the Getty; mentoring students on various issues.

Instructional Advisor (USC 2004-2005). Participated in fall training for Incoming Assistant Lecturers; co-ran a section of WRIT 501 for IAL’s; conducted class observations; engaged constant communication with IAL’s in and out of class for support on pedagogical issues.

The Undergraduate Writer’s Conference and Contest (USC—2004). Mediated an undergraduate writer’s panel and co-judged the associated contest with three of my colleagues.

Academic Advisement for Magnum: (Fall 2003). Academic Advisor for Magnum, a USC-sponsored literary journal featuring intelligent humor; fostered my student’s (the editor’s) initial idea for the journal, as well as his creation of an editorial board, and solicitation of material.
